Acupuncture

Treatment Explained

Acupuncture is a system of healing which draws on over two thousand years of experience from China and the Far East. Acupuncture is an ancient natural medicine therapy which treats not only symptoms but also the root causes of wide varieties of illness. The end result of treatment thus strengthens and nourishes a body to efficiently heal itself.

The philosophy behind acupuncture treatment is that energy lines or meridians circulate around the body, similar to the nervous system. These meridians contain our energy flow or “qi”. When the qi is weakened, imbalance and illness occur. With the insertion of fine needles at various points on the meridian, the energy can be moved or redirected to where it is needed most. In this way the body’s balance can be restored and the illness resolved.

Finding the root cause

A body’s strength and energy can be disrupted in many ways; emotional upset, physical trauma, poor diet or overwork are common causes.

Our expert acupuncturist can examine the root of the imbalance, resulting in a treatment plan which is always specific to a patient’s individual needs and encourages symptoms as well as the core reason for illness to subside.

Is Acupuncture effective?

Trial after trial consistently proves acupuncture’s effectiveness and especially its suitability for treating numerous conditions.

Many people are put off by the thought of acupuncture but it is often a painless treatment with the insertion of the needles rarely felt. The needles are solid, very fine and are sterilised single use disposable needles. Acupuncture also includes other techniques such as cupping, moxibustion and acupressure.
