Injury or disease to any part of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord), or peripheral nerves may result in many different problems, such as difficulties with movement, balance co-ordination, muscle weakness, muscle spasticity, sensory disturbances, pain and loss of function.
Examples of illnesses and diseases that may benefit from a specialist Neurological Physiotherapist include stroke, MS (Multiple sclerosis), Parkinson’s Disease, Head Injury and spinal cord injuries.
Pain, altered sensation and loss of function can also be caused by conditions that affect other smaller nerves e.g peripheral neurpathy and chronic regional pain syndrome.
These conditions requires specialist understanding, assessment and treatment approaches, in order to maximize the potential for a person to recover and improve their function, and overall health and well-being.
Assessments and treatments can be carried by our Neurological Physiotherapists either in your own home, nursing home or here at the clinic in our rehabilitation room.

Our Neurological Physiotherapists are also able to advise on referrals to other specialist medical professionals/Consultants, or other clinicians such as Podiatry within the clinic at 21st Century.
